Mizoram Olympian Lalremsiami to be appointed as Chief Hockey Coach

AIZAWL: Hockey star Lalremsiami from Mizoram is soon to be appointed as Chief Coach under Sports and Youth Services department.  

Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga took to Twitter on Thursday to make the announcement.

"Proud to announce that Govt. of Mizoram has approved the appointment of Ms Lalremsiami, National Hockey Player and the only Olympian from

Earlier, the state government had also announced a government job and house plot in her hometown for her participation in the Olympics.

Even though the Indian women's hockey team couldn't secure a medal, the did manage to secure a place in the hearts of the people with their power-packed performance at the international event.

About Lalremsiami

The 21-year-old Lalremsiami from created history by becoming the first female player from the state to be qualified for the Olympics.

With her spot in the game, she also became the Olympian from the state after a gap of 25 years.
