Mizoram: Over 9,000 young people badly hit by COVID-19 says Health Minister

AIZAWL: As many as 3,192 people of age group between 11 and 20 are badly affected by the COVID-19 in the first half of September as informed by state health minister Dr R Lalthangliana at a meeting to review the pandemic situation in the state of Mizoram.

2,850 cOVID-19 cases are detected among the below 10 years age group and 2,997 cases were detected between the age group 21 and 30 years.

The Health Minister informed that 16,158 COVID-19 cases were reported from 85 localities in Aizawl and 406 villages.

"Majority of patients in need of ventilator support are young people," said Lalthangliana.

He also added that 34 ICU beds and those in other wards of the Zoram Medical College, the State's lone COVID-19 dedicated hospital, are constantly working with 100 per cent occupancy.

The state currently has 14,132 active COVID-19 cases.
