Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday said that the mega Rs 20 lakh crore mega economic package will benefit more than 1 lakh MSMEs existing in the state.
“Around 40 lakh people are engaged in over 1 lakh MSMEs in the state. The package will benefit this section highly,” the CM said while addressing a press conference here in Guwahati.
He further said that the state has 99.9 per cent MSME industries and around 2000 distress industries. “The Centre has allocated Rs 20 thousand crore for the revival of the distress industries. This will highly benefit the state,” Sonowal said.
The state has incurred a loss of Rs 1000 crore since the lockdown was enforced in the country to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus, the CM said while adding that the package will give a fillip in the state’s economy.
Speaking on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s line, CM Sonwoal also emphasized on the need to give importance on the production of the indigenous products and to occupy the international market.
Meanwhile, unveiling the second tranche of Centre’s Rs 20 lakh crore mega economic package, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday made a set of significant announcements exclusively for the migrant workers, street vendors, and small farmers.
Saying that PDS ration cards will be made portable, allowing migrant workers to use their ration cards across states, she said adding this would benefit 83 percent of PDS beneficiaries, in 23 states by August. “By March 2021, 100 percent coverage under ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ will be done,” she added.
Private sector employees will get a boost to their take-home salaries and small and medium-sized will be offered Rs 3 lakh crore in collateral-free bank loans, Nirmala Sitharaman had announced on Wednesday, detailing parts of the government’s Rs 20 lakh crore COVID-19 economic relief plan.
