Guwahati, January 15, 2019:

More than 100 Army jawans, along with 30 civilians, carried a pregnant lady on a stretcher to the hospital on a 4-hour long journey through heavy snow in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reportedly, the Indian Army jawans helped the expecting mother Shamima, who required emergency hospitalization.

A video posted by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, shows the jawans and the concerned civilians carrying the pregnant lady on a stretcher to the hospital. The Chinar Cops tweeted, “ During heavy snowfall, an expecting mother Mrs Shamima, required emergency hospitalisation. For 4 hours over 100 Army persons & 30 civilians walked with her on stretcher through heavy snow. Baby born in hospital, both mother & child doing fine."

In the video, the Army jawans along with the civilians were seen making their way through the heavy snowfall, and thanks to the efforts of the jawans, the woman was able to deliver a healthy baby.

The jawans' valiance has earned them the praise of netizens, who were quick to applaud them for this act of selflessness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking to his official Twitter handle, tweeted, “Our Army is known for its valour and professionalism. It is also respected for its humanitarian spirit. Whenever people have needed help, our Army has risen to the occasion and done everything possible! Proud of our Army. I pray for the good health of Shamima and her child.”

“These Video speaks itself how Indian Security Forces is helping Kashmiris in Kashmir. They are always here to protect us in every situation", wrote a civilian.

Another user wrote, “We extend our gratitude towards our brave #Soldiers & their families who safeguard the sovereignty of the country & keep ?? safe & secure with incessant vigil.On the 72nd ?? we salute the indomitable courage & valour of the heroes of #IndianArmy. #ArmyDay2020”
