MP Ninong Ering meets PM Modi, urges scrapping of Citizenship Bill

Guwahati, February 6, 2019:

Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and urged him to withdraw the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 for the greater interest of the indigenous people of the Northeast.

Ninong Ering also apprised him about the critical situation of Siang River and submitted a detailed research report on formalization of national policy of silt management.

The MP tweeted out after his interaction with the Prime Minister:

Ering, who is the represents Arunachal East constituency, has been vocal against the controversial Bill from the very beginning.

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was also making efforts to meet the PM. However, the PM ‘refused’ to meet the Meghalaya Chief Minister, citing a ‘busy’ schedule.
