Mrinal Talukdar’s Book 'Post Colonial Assam' Selected for United States' Library of Congress

Guwahati, September 14, 2019:

The Library of Congress, Washington DC, has selected veteran journalist Mrinal Talukdar’s 'Post Colonial Assam (1947-2019)' to be placed in US Congress Library in the United States capital.

The US Congress is the biggest library of the World, and is accessed by renowned academics from around the world. It is also one of the biggest repositories of rare and precious books from around the world.

Mrinal Talukdar's book is one of the first books from Assam on its contemporary social situation, which has found a place in US Congress Library.

It was published by the Nanda Talukdar Foundation and although soft launch has been done but hard launch of the book is awaited and will be done sometime around winter 2019.

The 382 page Book has 11 Chapters starting from Assam After Independence to the controversy surrounding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

This is the first and only major book of events that occurred in Assam after Independence in 1947. It has documented the entire journey of the past seven decades, many of which have been violent.

Talukdar's book also covers the rise of the BJP party in Assam, the fallout over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and CAB, besides 15 years of Tarun Gogoi. The book is available in www.amazon.com.
