Guwahati, September 3, 2019:

The Muslim Students’ Federation on Tuesday warned the government and other not to play with the public emotions in the name of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The MSF further warned the government not to bring in the discussion of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 to discriminate the left out people in the name of religion.

Addressing the media, Muslim Students’ Federation said that it shall "stand by the people of Assam at this critical hour of crisis and fight and strive for justice of each and every deprived." The students’ body said that it will ensure justice to all irrespective of caste creed and religion. All legal assistance shall be provided to the victims, said the students’ body.

The MSF appealed to the people of Assam to maintain peace tranquillity and harmony in society. Moreover, it requested everybody not to go by any rumours and create any panic situation in society.

MSF has also vowed to continue its efforts to build up an error-free NRC, where no foreigners name is included and no indigenous Indian citizens are left out.

On August 31, the final list of NRC has been declared by the State Coordinator of Assam as per the direction of the Supreme Court of India. Over 19 lakh people were left out of the NRC and over 3 lakh people did not file their claims before the NRC authorities.

These left out people have to appeal before the FTs at their respective district and shall be declared Indians by Foreigners’ Tribunal to be included in the NRC with a window of 120 days from the date of publication of NRC.
