The Indian Army tweeted on Monday that they have proof of the yeti's existence and shared photographs showing the mythical beast's footprints.

For the uninitiated, the yeti is a bi-pedal mythical being that resembles humans and is covered in fur. It allegedly dwells in the Himalayan mountains and has not been seen by any living person.

On Monday, the Indian Army tweeted out pictures that show an unusually large footprint and claimed that the 'abominable snowman' (as the Yeti is also called) truly exists. "

Somewhat expectedly, this sent the internet into a tizzy and netizens were quick to respond.

Ex-BJP MP Tarun Vijay said that the yeti should not be called a "beast" and should instead be referred to as "snowman".

Writer Sanjeev Sanyal, though, rubbished the reports and claimed that it is the result of reading too many 'Tintin' comic books.

User Suma J Amin pointed out that the distance between each footstep is too large. "Only a single footprint is seen. Normally should there not be prints of both the feet?", she queried.
