Myanmar’s Junta appointed election commission is planning to dissolve Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy Party (NLD) for its comment in November election. Reportedly, the decision was taken during a meeting with political parties which were banned by several parties including NLD.

In the month of February, the Myanmar’s army seized power after detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Suu Kyi had been battling for democracy since a long time.

The coup was justified by the military after they accused Suu Kyi’s party of achieving victory through manipulated votes. However, the complaints were rejected by the electoral commission at that time.

There were no immediate responses from the spokesman for the junta and for an underground pro-democracy national unity government, which includes ousted members of the NLD. The spokesperson for the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party reportedly stated that he had no information regarding the outcome.

More than 800 lives were lost since the protests broke after the coup. Conflicts aggravated between the ethnic minority guerilla groups and the security forces. Even though the chaos frightened Myanmar’s neighbours and the broader international community, the generals are not planning for a compromise yet.

75 year old Suu Kyi has several charges filed in two courts, The utterly serious being the one under a colonial-era official secrets act. Suu Kyi has been a figurehead for Myanmar’s battle against dictatorship. NLD achieved majority of seats in 1990 election. However, the result was not recognized at that time and she came to power much later.
