Mysuru Gangrape: Home Minister says, “site deserted, couple ‘should not have’ visited”

An MBA student from outside Karnataka was sexually assaulted by four-five men Tuesday night in a deserted area near the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru.

MYSURU: An MBA student from outside Karnataka was sexually assaulted by four-five men Tuesday night in a deserted area near the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru.

Reportedly, after two days of the gangrape of 23 years old, the police are yet to make an arrest. While, on Thursday, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra caused a controversy by stating that the woman and her friend should have been more careful.

“Around 7:30 pm they went there. It is a deserted place, they should not have gone, but we can’t stop anyone from going, they went. It is a deserted place and no one usually goes there.” Minister said to reporters.

According the police investigation, the victim and her friend said that the accused had made videos of the incident and threatened to release them if the couple approached the authorities. Meanwhile, one person has reportedly been detained.

On July 25, Sunday, two minor girls were gangraped in Goa. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, made a controversy remark by announcing on Thursday that the Opposition accused his government of “collapse of law and order” in the state.

However, on Wednesday Sawant said, “Ten people went to a party on the beach of which six went home and four stayed back all night — two boys and two girls. They are 14-year-old children. Parents in Goa should also think about this. They also need to take care. You cannot blame only the government and police. If 14–15-year-olds stay on the beach all night, we need to think about this. Parents are also responsible.”

Further, on Thursday he added, “It is the responsibility of parents also. They should take responsibility while sending minor children out
