DIMAPUR: The Naga People's Front (NPF) secretary also a former president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minority Morcha, Mukibur Rahman died of cardiac arrest yesterday at a referral hospital.

Political leaders across party lines--Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, NPF president Shurhozelie Liezietsu, state BJP president Temjen Imna Along, NPF minority wing Central, Dimapur Namghar Trust Board, and EDBA have mourned the demise of the leader.

Mukibur Rahman was a leader of the oppressed and a compassionate human being who worked to uplift the weaker and minority sections.

He was an enthusiastic social activist and a well-known figure in the minority community

Y Patton, the state deputy chief minister expressing condolences to the bereaved family stated that his good deeds would be remembered by the people, particularly those with whom he worked, and prayed for the departed to rest in peace on behalf of the state BJP legislators.

Temjen Imna Along, state BJP president stated in a condolence message, “He was a dedicated social worker whose significant contributions to society were widely recognised.

Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, president of NPF, condoled his death and said his death was a great loss to the party.

NPF minority wing, central president Bishnu Bhattacharjee in a condolence note, said that Rahman was "a leader for the people and community" and that he was "above party politics." The party would miss the vibrant, energetic, visionary gentleman.

Meanwhile, East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) vice president Azolo Nuh has requested that all businesses in East Dimapur jurisdiction close their doors today till 12 pm as a mark of respect during the funeral service of Mukibur Rahman.
