Nagaland: 6 Chennai returnees test positive, state tally reaches 49

Six persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in Nagaland taking the state total to 49. All the patients have returned from Chennai.

Of the seven persons, 90 samples tested from Chennai returnees, among them 5 Males and 1 Female has been tested for COVID-19. All cases are in Dimapur.

Taking stock of the matter, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Nagaland tweeted:

Seven persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in Nagaland taking the state total to 43. All the patients have returned from Chennai.

On May 30^th, 2020, 11 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Nagaland. Out of the 11 cases, 9 are male and 2 female. All the positives are returnees from Chennai.

Nagaland and Northeast India

Assam has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases followed by Tripura. Nagaland has 4th highest cases in the region.

India cases so far

As of 2nd June, India has reached 1,99,000+ in terms of corona positives. The country currently has 97581 active cases with 95526 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 5598.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 2 thousand deaths. It has recorded 70013 corona cases with 30108 cured, 2362 deaths and 37543 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 20834 cases with 8746 cured, 523 deaths, and 11565 active cases. Tamil Nadu has crossed 23495 cases with 13170 cured, 184 deaths 10141 active cases. Gujarat with 17200 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 10780 have been cured, 1063 deaths, and 5357 active cases.

India has surpassed China’s official figure of 82,933 confirmed coronavirus cases. India now has 7^{th in} most cases in the world and has surpassed Germany. So far, the USA has the highest number of covid19 cases at 1,837,170 cases

Global coronavirus cases have surpassed 6,370,763 cases, with Latin America overtaking the United States and Europe in the past week to report the largest portion of new daily cases globally. It represents a new phase in the virus' spread, which initially peaked in China in February before large-scale outbreaks followed in Europe and the United States.

Much will be understood in the days to come with interstate airlines getting opened, which has increased the spike of cases as the country heads towards a relaxed system of lockdown 5.0. The question is, is living with corona the new normal in Assam and rest of the world?
