Nagaland: 8-day lockdown in Dimapur from July 26 after cases rise to 1237

Nagaland Covid-19 positive cases rose to 1237 with the detection of 63 new cases on Friday. The fresh cases are out of the 372 samples tested.

“Out of 372 samples tested, 63 positive cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed,” health and family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.

Forty-one of them are in Dimapur, 21 in Kohima and one in Peren in Nagaland.

Of the 1237 positive cases, 707 are active while 530 patients recovered.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur district task force has announced partial lockdown in Dimapur for eight days from July 26 to August 2.

Deputy commissioner Anoop Kinchi, who is also the district task force, said the decision was taken to enhance active surveillance by the Dimapur chief medical officer team and also to ensure comprehensive contact tracing as well as for slowing down the chain of transmission process to contain the spread of the infection in the district, Nagaland.

However, he said keeping in mind the well being of the citizens, it was decided that essential commodities (grocery) stores would be allowed to open from 9am to 2pm. All non-essential commodities shops, including bakeries, would remain closed during the lockdown period.

All shops and business establishments were allowed to open from 9am to 2pm till July 25.

While movement of public will be prohibited except those coming out for availing essential commodities, the public has been directed to buy essential commodities from their respective colony/ village shops. Vegetable vendors would be allowed to sell only in their respective colonies and not in the main market.

Inter-state, inter-district and inter-village movement would be restricted. However, movement of medical emergencies and essential goods and services with proper safety measures in place would be allowed.

It was decided that the odd-even system on vehicular movement would continue to be enforced while the autos/taxis would be allowed to ply with only one passenger following all necessary SOPs.

The wholesale markets would remain open from 5am to 9am only while New Market, Hongkong market, Hazi Park, Millenium Market, Railway Bazaar and vegetable market at Purana Bazaar will continue to remain closed completely.

The district administration, Nagaland police, paramilitary/army, departments like medical, treasury, fire and emergency, home guards and civil defence, prisons, IT&C, PHED, power, NIC, DIPR, food and civil supplies, social welfare, municipality/town council, AIR, Doordarshan, pharmacies, medical clinics, nursing homes, BSNL and private telecom services, internet service providers, media, LPG, ATMs, banks with minimal staff, petroleum outlets would be exempted.
