DIMAPUR: The United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) Nagaland has called for a two-day strike (mARCH 15-16) to protest the proposed privatization of two state-owned lenders by the government.

 

This was informed by Tap Paul, the state secretary of All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC) President.

 

Paul said that the bank union has taken this decision to protest the Indian government's proposal for privatization of banks.

 

He also informed the media that all the private sector bank employees and private sector banks were also involved in the agitation.

 

The UFBU has also demanded the government to strengthen the public sector banks.

 

Paul further informed that the UFBU unit in Nagaland will hold a dharna on March 15 and the 16th from 9:30 am at the Supermarket complex near SBI regional business office in Dimapur; at SBI regional business office in Mokokchung, and at SBI main branch near the deputy commissioner's office in Kohima.
