Dimapur, January 17, 2020:
The Nagaland Gaon Burha Federation (NGBF) has urged Governor RN Ravi to prioritize the Naga political issue and settle it in order to solve the other prevailing problems of the state.
The NGBF observes that a peaceful settlement of the Naga political issue is prime and therefore it has reiterated its stand to support for the peaceful settlement of the Naga political issue.
A statement released from the NGBF media secretary, Akhu Naga informed that Governor RN Ravi also “shared his deep concern and care for the common people of Nagaland in the areas of good governance of road, health, education etc.”
The Governor, reportedly, appreciated the neutrality and efforts of NGBF and the initiative of the Churches in Nagaland to tirelessly work for the Naga people and their political future.
It needs mention here that the Naga Peace Talks between the Government of India and Naga Political groups were concluded on October 31, 2019. Naga Hoho, the apex body of all Naga groups, has also expressed concern that despite announcement that the formal talks have been concluded, progress is yet to take place.
Naga Hoho president, HK Zhimomi and General Secretary, K Elu Ndang, in a statement, said that the Naga people entered into another year yet, without any sign of resolving the long pending political impasse. “More than two decades of Peace parleys is pretty long enough to be concluded. The Naga people are anxious to see the new dawn in the Naga areas,” it stated.
It said that the “inconclusive talks are a reflection of the insincerity and lack of political will on the part of the Government of India while committed to resolve the issue within a short period of time.”
