Nagaland joined The Himalayan Cleanup (THC) on May 25, 2019 with the theme "our mountains deserve better". It is a campaign initiated by the Integrated Mountain Initiatives (IMI) and Zero Waste Himalayas.

The cleanliness drive was organized by the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) in Kohima. The drive was also carried out in many other parts of Nagaland.

Wastes were collected from various locations, segregated and assessed.

The work of the Government officials of Nagaland to keep Nagaland clean and pristine is a noble effort as we have seen rising threats to the ecological balance due to makind's propensity to spread litter and garbage in their surroundings. Human being's callous attitude towards preserving nature nature has caused a surplus of waste in nature which has caused great sufferings to the wild.

The Himalayan Cleanup (THC) is a pan-Himalayan initiative taken to raise awareness about waste in the Indian Himalayan Region, of which the Northeastern part of India is also a part.
