Nagaland: Dimapur Colony Council Expels Six for Peddling Brown Sugar

Dimapur, September 30, 2019:

The Dimapur Colony Council has ex-communicated six people, including a woman and a pharmacist, for selling brown sugar.

The six were expelled from United North Block (UNB) ‘A’ Naga Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, after they were caught by the colony council in the wee hours on Sunday.

In a meeting convened by the council with residents of the colony, along with the accused, the alleged six peddlers admitted that they had been involved in the selling of drugs for several years.

Drug peddling in the colony came to light after a ‘user’ approached a lady, identified as Asenla Chophy, to buy the ‘stuff’.

Community policing members caught the user, identified as one Bilal Hussain, who disclosed the names of the others.

Chairman of the colony, Zasivikho Zakiesato and Secretary Toshi Aier informed that all the accused have been expelled from the colony with their families on Sunday and were given time till noon to vacate the premises.

Zasivikho urged other colony chairmen and officials in Dimapur to be cautious of the ex-communicated families and not to entertain them by renting houses.

Meanwhile, the other peddlers were identified as James Horam, Jabar Hussain, Neneo Disong and Titong Dey.
