Nagaland approves entry of fully-vaccinated tourists to state

KOHIMA: Despite an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases over the past week, the Nagaland government is going ahead with its next phase of 'Unlock' which will commence from July 18 onwards.

Nagaland Government co-spokesperson and advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon moments earlier took to Twitter to announce that henceforth, tourists who have taken two doses of the COVID-19 will be eligible to enter the state as tourists.

In another significant move, the government spokesperson has announced that the classes in the Higher Secondary institutions and colleges will resume from July 26. All other classes will re-open from August 1, he announced further.

"Unlock 3 - 18 July till 1st August. There is a slight uptick in the last week! Caution! Tourist who have taken two doses will be welcome to Nagaland. Higher Secondary & colleges will start from 26th July. Vaccination is must for staff! Other classes will start from 1st August!," Kikon posted on his official Twitter handle.

NAGALAND COVID-19 CASES:

Nagaland‘s COVID-19 tally rose to 26,381 on Thursday as 132 more people tested positive for the infection. No casualty was reported yesterday, leaving the tally at 516.

Kohima recorded the highest number of new cases at 72, followed by Mokokchung (26) and Dimapur (18), the government's bulletin said.

The total number of recoveries crossed the 24,000-mark as 97 more people were cured of the disease. The recovery count now stands at 24,084.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state has slightly dipped to 91.29.

Nagaland state now has 1,050 active cases, while 731 patients have migrated to other states, it said.
