Nagaland Govt imposes Section 144 CrPC in Mon Town

The Nagaland government on Monday imposed Section 144 CrPC in Mon Town of Nagaland to contain the tensed situation. The order will come into force with effect from issue of the order till further notice.

DIMAPUR: The Nagaland government on Monday imposed Section 144 CrPC in Mon Town of Nagaland to contain the tensed situation. The order will come into force with effect from issue of the order till further notice.

According to the prohibitory order, gathering of more than five people at a time will be prohibited.  The order also prohibits vehicular movement of non-essential nature including public vehicle.

In view of the section 144 CrPC being imposed in Mon town, Trinamool Congress (TMC) called off their visit to Nagaland.

A five-member All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) scheduled visit to Nagaland to stand by the families of the victims of firing incident in Mon district.

Meanwhile, The Nagaland Police lodged a suo moto FIR against the 21st Paramilitary Force over the firing incident in Mon district on Saturday which led to the deaths of 14 civilians. The FIR states that the intention of the security forces was to "murder and injure civilians."

The FIR further stated that the operation was carried out without any intimation or requisition for a local police guide.
