DIMAPUR: The Dimapur district administration has decided to conduct aggressive random testing for Covid-19 and vaccination until June 30.

The decision was made at a meeting held in Dimapur Police Commissioner’s office on Wednesday and was decided at a coordination meeting with Team Dimapur on Covid-19

The increased random testing will be carried out in crowded areas and markets on a war footing.

According to the sources, when reviewing vaccination the meeting noted that the death rate is on the decline as more individuals have begun to receive the vaccine.

Appreciating the State Government for supplying appropriate vaccine doses for the district, the meeting decided to request more doses from the government, citing the district's high population and the fact that more individuals are coming forward for vaccination.

It was found that the available 13,719 vaccine doses in the district are may not be sufficient, as the district plans to implement aggressive vaccination until June 30.

The meeting highlighted that the State government made the correct choice to prohibit train arrival at the Dimapur railway station, which helped in containing the pandemic drastically.

Y Kikheto Sema, the district's nodal officer, emphasized the importance of continuing to raise public awareness about the importance of being disciplined and getting vaccinated. He stated that t The conflict is still going on, with the third wave expected between September and October, according to experts' predictions. He praised the district administration, police, and medical department for working together.

Rajesh Soundararajan, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, said the district is now better prepared to tackle the pandemic. According to him, the current restrictions have been beneficial.

Dimapur Commissioner of Police Rothihu Tetseo said the public response towards the restrictions has been very positive.
