Nagaland Hit by Coronavirus Scare, Screening at all Major Entry Points

Kohima, February 4, 2020:

The State of Nagaland is taking all preventive measures to prevent an outbreak of the novel coronavirus that has claimed over 400 lives across the world.

An employee of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, told Inside Northeast, "Screening is being done in Nagaland...at the major entry points. So far, there are no suspected cases, and the state has put into action all the preparedness measures..."

According to a statement released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, out of 33 persons coming to the state from countries affected by the virus, none have been found to be affected by the epidemic.

Meanwhile, the department has confirmed that those passengers coming in from the neighboring China, the epicentre of the virus, have been quarantined, as per protocol.

Meanwhile, persons coming from affected countries have been instructed to self-declare at the following numbers: +91-7005435243, +91-9856071745, +91-7005539653.

"All persons currently residing or having visited the affected countries on or after 15th January 2020 to send detailed addresses of place visited and local Nagaland address to above numbers through whatsapp or SMS", read the communique.
