Nagaland: Kohima begins online cycling survey

The Kohima Smart City Development Ltd. (KSCDL) has rolled out its online cycling survey on Wednesday. Any concerned citizen who likes to cycle or has an interest in cycling can participate in the survey and share what they would like to see in the city’s future.

Kovi Meyase, CEO, KSCDL, said the online survey is part of the India Cycles4Change Challenge. Kohima under the initiative of the KSCDL is participating in the competition along with 95 other cities.

India Cycles4Change Challenge is an initiative of the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, which aims to inspire and support the cities to implement quick cycling-friendly initiatives in response to Covid-19. The competition will conclude in October.

The online survey aims to have a deeper understanding of how citizens think about cycling as the best strategic plans are rooted in insight and fact-based information on a community. These research insights will help reveal social, economic and consumer trends, Meyase said.

He said the link to the online survey will be available on the social media platforms of KSCDL.

The KSCDL appealed to all concerned citizens to join and participate in the survey.

The participation of the citizens is a key metric in this survey for qualifying in the Top 11.

“We can also grab this opportunity to not only shape the future of our city but for our children and the future generations to come,” Meyase said.

The India Programme of the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy is the knowledge partner of the Smart Cities Mission in conducting this Challenge and guiding cities through it.

Through this Challenge, the registered cities will implement quick interventions to create a safe and cycling-friendly city. The KSCDL said Kohima is committed to working with its citizens as it develops and implements the proposals to ensure this transformation. It sought their support in making this programme a success as community engagement is a key component of the initiative.

The KSCDL launched the Kohima Cycles4Change Campaign on July 28 to encourage more people into cycling and head towards the path of fitness, balanced growth, personal transport, and a cultural shift towards the sport of cycling for a better and greener future.
