Nagaland, Mizoram to begin vaccination drive for 18-44 age group from tomorrow

KOHIMA: The Nagaland and Mizoram governments will launch the vaccination drive against COVID-19 for the age group of 18-44 years from tomorrow

A total of 36,580 vaccine doses arrived on May 12 in Nagaland, according to the State Directorate of Health and Family Welfare.

The vaccination drive will be conducted in 24 session sites on May 17 and 28 sites on May 18.

Every Monday and Tuesday in the state, a vaccination drive for this age group will be held at the designated COVID-19 vaccination centre (CVC). This age group's registration and booking began on Friday morning, according to the slots available for each CVC.

During the first vaccine cycle for this age group, a total of 7,450 doses are expected to be administered.

Meanwhile, a shipment of 1,6340 Covishield doses arrived in Mizoram on Thursday.

The number of beneficiaries in the 18-44-year-old age group is estimated to be about 5.1 lakh, and more than 10.2 lakh doses are required to complete the vaccine.

Furthermore, the government had put an order for more than 10.2 lakh doses, of which 1,642 had already been delivered.

People have been urged to register at the CoWIN and Arogya Setu by both state governments. All beneficiaries must receive the vaccine, and no on-site registration will be permitted.
