Guwahati, November 1, 2019:
Nagaland ruling party, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has welcomed the ‘positive outcome’ of the Naga peace talks that concluded on October 31.
NDPP has also appealed to all the parties to work in unity towards implementing the common solution that is honorable, acceptable and inclusive of all stakeholders.
“The NDPP has always believed in the maturity and wisdom of all negotiating parties and have always been optimistc of an amicable solution being agreed on in the greater interest of the Nagas,” it stated in a statement released recently.
NDPP further appreciated all the stakeholders, the various Tribal Hohos, civil society organisations, NGOs and the Church for their whole-hearted support towards achieving the historic agreement that will entail lasting peace in Nagaland.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party said that it would continue its prayers for a new Nagaland firmly established on the foundations of ‘Unity, Democracy, Secular and Inclusiveness.”
It may be mentioned here that although the government has agreed upon the demands of the NSCN-IM, agreeing to the separate flag and constitution, the formal announcements are yet to be made as Centre is keen on taking governments of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on board. The three states have expressed apprehension over the talks and sought to protect their territorial integrity.
