DIMAPUR: Kohima deputy commissioner and chairman of Kohima District Task Force Gregory Thejawelie today imposed night curfew in Kohima district from 7 pm to 6 am with effect from tomorrow.

In an order, Thejawelie said the curfew will remain in force until further notice.

He said this was decided at the Kohima District Task Force meeting held on Monday in view of the rapid surge in Covid-19 positive cases and to curtail the transmission of the disease.

However, medical, emergency and essential services, including pharmacies, movement of goods vehicles through goods carriers/trucks will be permitted during the curfew hours.

Any person violating the order will be penalised as per the provision of the Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 beside legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.

In another notification today, Thejawelie warned against violation of the April 29 order for closure of all hostels.

He said it was brought to the notice that some hostels are still operating despite the order.

He directed all concerned to comply with the order with immediate effect.

He said any person found violating the order will be penalised as per the provision of the Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 beside legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.
