Nagaland: NSCN refutes final settlement before Independence day, says 'will happen after total agreement'

Nagaland Peace Accord was signed-in on 3 August 2015 by the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) to end the insurgency. Government’s Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks R. N. Ravi signed it on behalf of the Government of India whereas Lt. Isak Chishi Swu, Chairman and Thuingaleng Muivah, General Secretary signed on behalf of the NSCN in presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, a senior team of NSCN-IM leaders joined chief Th Muivah, in New Delhi to continue discussions with the Centre on a possible resolution of the Nagaland political issue. Amid these talks, there have been reports of coming to a final solution before Independence Day.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, V Horem of the NSCN said, "There are discussion going about in Delhi and you can't set a fix time in advance. The final settlement will happen according to the agreement".

On the issue of the concerns of engaging other groups and whether it will be a final solution. "We are looking for inclusiveness, which means a solution for all including all Naga political organisations and territories".
