Nagaland observes 'No Litter, No Garbage' hours in Kohima

In an effort to make Kohima a litter-free city, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has started observing  'No Litter, No Garbage' hours starting from 6 AM in the morning to 6 PM in the evening.

KOHIMA: In an effort to make Kohima a litter-free city, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has started observing  'No Litter, No Garbage' hours starting from 6 AM in the morning to 6 PM in the evening. The initiative was launched at the beginning of this month.

The KMC urged the citizens to not throw waste from moving cars and stop the habit of littering. It further stated that the violators will be fined.

The TCP junction to North PS junction has been selected as the pilot location to carry out the mission for the initial week. The range will be gradually extended to the main highway, informed Administrator of KMC Kovi Meyase.

He further encouraged the citizens to make use of dustbins on the pavements, footpaths, and in the ones placed in front of shops.

Meyase also instructed Traders and Business establishments to deposit the waste at waste collection points specified by the KMC before 6 am and after 6 pm.

Praising the efforts of the citizens, Meyase added that the capital city has become much cleaner over the years. He also lauded the ward sanitization committees and other groups and organizations for their contribution to making the city cleaner.

The ward sanitization committees have been asked to create awareness about the initiative and also monitor the waste deposit timings.
