Nagaland Police alerted by Dy CM after Guwahati blast

Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton has condemned the grenade blast that took place at the busy RGB Road, Guwahati, on Wednesday.

The Deputy CM said that while the overall law and order situation in the whole Northeast is peaceful, such cowardly acts by some 'disgruntled elements' has created panic and fear psychosis in the minds of the people.

Y Patton urged the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book at the earliest and befitting punishment be given according to relevant sections of the law. The Deputy Chief Minister further prayed for a speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Y. Patton also alerted the Nagaland State Police department to be vigilant and take pre-emptive measures, particularly in public places to avert any such subversive activities in the State. He further urged the police department and other intelligence agencies in the Nagaland to stay vigilant.

It is to be mentioned a massive grenade blast shook the Guwahati city at Zoo Road on Wednesday evening at around 7:45 pm. The United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) claimed for it.

The city police along with the crime branch arrested an Assamese daily soap actress Jahnabi Saikia and pro-talks ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru in relation to the blast. The team seized one 9MM pistol, 35 rounds of live bullets, 70 kg of explosive materials which was used to make IEDs, ULFA-I flag, and a scooty suspected was used during the blast and some objectionable documents from the possession of Jahnabi Saikia.
