Nagaland restricts entry of visitors to civil secretariat complex amid surge in COVID-19 cases

GUWAHATI/DIMAPUR: The Nagaland government today restricted entry of visitors to the state civil secretariat complex in view of the recent surge in COV1D-19 cases in the state.

The order which came into force with immediate effect shall remain in place until further orders.

The state home department through a notification stated that all employees will have to produce valid identity card to the checking staff while entering the secretariat complex.

It also advised the employees not to entertain outsiders into the secretariat complex, and to follow all precautionary measures, like wearing of mask, regular washing of hands and maintaining social, distancing to ensure general safety.

However, the nodal officers, officers and staff from the directorates and districts on official duty, are allowed to enter the secretariat complex after obtaining prior permission from the officer concerned in the secretariat.

Nagaland has seen a steep rise in COVID-19 cases this month. The state reported 55 fresh cases of COVID-19 yesterday, taking the tally to 13,238. The state currently has an active caseload of 727, with two of the patients reported to be in a critical condition.

Of the new cases reported yesterday, 38 are from Dimapur, nine from Kohima, three each from Mokokchung and Mon, and one each from Kiphire and Longleng districts.
