Nagaland Restricts Movement of Citizens across Myanmar Border amid Coronavirus Scare

Kohima, February 15, 2020:

On February 14, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Mon district of Nagaland issued an order to restrict the movement of people across the Myanmar-Nagaland international border due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (or COVID-19).

The order from the Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, stated that keeping in view the reported outbreak of COVID-19 in China and other countries and on declaration of the same as 'Public Health Emergency' of international concern by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the crossing the International border between India and Myanmar is strictly prohibited with effect from the date of this order (on Feb 14).

Meanwhile, the world community continues its quest to seek answers to defeat the epidemic that has claimed over 1,000 lives across the world and has been detected in at least 25 countries.

At Facebook on Thursday, the World Health Organization (WHO) hosted a daylong meeting with some of the largest tech leaders, including Amazon and Google, to discuss setting aside their differences to work together on solutions to the coronavirus outbreak.

The meeting was organized by WHO and hosted at Facebook’s Menlo Park campus, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed to CNBC.
