DIMAPUR: Nagaland has not yet received COVID-19 vaccine doses to inoculate the people in the age group of 18 to 44 years in the State. Vaccination for this age group was scheduled to start from May 1.

Nagaland health and family welfare department today said the vaccination of the age group of 18 to 44 years will begin only when the state receives the required doses of vaccine from the manufacturer.

It said, the state has recently received a letter from Serum Institute India, manufacturer of Covishield vaccine, stating that they will supply 36,580 doses of Covishield vaccine in the first batch.

The department said the state government is in the process to procure another four lakh doses to begin its third phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Though registration in the selfregistration.cowin.gov.in and AarogyaSetu App will continue, booking for vaccination will start only when the state announces the date for commencement of vaccination for the third phase for this age group, the department said.

Meanwhile, in partial modification of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) order dated April 21, 2021, the state level war room on COVID-19 has been restarted with the chief secretary and chairperson of the state executive committee, NSDMA, as the chairman and members from the key line departments.
