NAGAON: In a shocking incident, a bank employee was brutally murdered in Nagaon district of middle Assam. The employee’s corpse was recovered in a badly mutilated condition in the Kondoli Firing Field in Nagaon yesterday. A large amount of cash believed to be in the possession of the deceased is yet to be found by police.
It is suspected that Krishna Baishya, a business development officer of the North East Small Finance Bank, was killed a large sum of money that he was carrying with himself.
“Baishya had been collecting loan amounts from some organizations in those parts for 6-7 months. However, the alarm was raised when he did not return after his latest mission on Wednesday. The branch manager called his number but was not able to reach him. Thereafter, we approached the police. They found his body with the throat slit after searching for more than 2 days,” Baishya’s colleague told Inside Northeast, under the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, Nagaon police officials have launched an investigation into the matter.
This is a developing story.
