Speaking to Inside Northeast, the leader, who lost a very close contest to Naba Sarania in the race to the Lok Sabha crown in the last General elections, says that all the organizations, transcending party or community lines, will work unitedly for the development of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

"There are many leaders who have struggled for nationhood but did not join politics. It is certain that there are many who will join, and some others will not join. There is also the question of implementation of the new Accord", Brahma said, speaking on NDFB members, many of whom have returned overground after several years in exile, joining mainstream politics.

Speaking about the upcoming polls, Brahma said that there is no question of joining the BPF, adding that the discussions regarding the seat-sharing have been put on the backburner and the UPPL would contest the elections, likely to be held next month, alone.

Brahma, talking about the apprehensions of the non-Bodos regarding the peace pact, said that there is no need to fear violation of their rights. "This is an extremely liberal pact, and Bodos as well as non-Bodos are sure to to be benefited. This will usher in development across the region..."

It may be mentioned here that a new peace agreement was signed in January 2020 between the Government of India and the Government of Assam on one side and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, the All Bodo Students’ Union and United Bodo People’s Organisation on the other. Under the terms of this agreement, a Bodoland Territorial Region was formed with enhanced executive and legislative powers.
