DIMAPUR: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday inaugurated the State Data Centre of the National Hydrology Project at the Water Resources Department’s Chief Engineer’s Office in Kohima.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Neiphiu Rio said setting of State Data Centre will have a positive impact as it will serve as a hub for real-time and long-term data management and operational control system of water resources.

 

He further stated that the main objective of the National Hydrology Project is to improve the extent, quality and accessibility of water resources information and strengthen the capacity of water resources management institution all over the State.

Neiphiu Rio called upon the officials of the Water Resources Department to take the lead in educating the people for proper management of water as Nagaland receives one of the highest rainfall in the country.

 

Adviser to Water Resources Department Namri Nchang, in his address, said that with the setting of State Data Centre,  the Water Resources Department will be collecting and compiling all the manual data from all the centres on a daily basis and will exchange it with other agencies under the National Hydrology Project and stakeholders.

 

The technical report on the centre was presented by Executive Engineer, Water Resources, Wapangnaro Imchen.
