New COVID-19 protocols for incoming passengers in Assam from November 1

The Assam government is contemplating to introduce new COVID-19 protocols for incoming passengers. The new protocols are likely to come into effect from November 1 next.

Assam Health & Family Welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that a person does not need to undergo COVID-19 test, if he/she does the test within 48 hours prior to arrival in the state.

Sarma said that this order will be issued with effect from November 1 after the Durga Puja. He further stated that the results of the RT-PCR tests should be available on the ICMR portal.

Meanwhile, Assam recorded 642 active coronavirus cases out of 23129 tests conducted on Saturday while 818 cured patients were discharged. The recovery rate of the state has improved to 85.37 per cent.

There has been a consistent rise in the number of recoveries made in the state with over 1.7 lakh cured cases.

The active caseload of the state is 14.19 per cent with 28442 cases. Out of the new cases 149 were reported from Kamrup (M).
