New Delhi celebrates rich heritage of North East India “Destination North East India”

NEW DELHI: The National Museum in New Delhi celebrated the rich heritage of North East India as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations to commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glory of its people's culture and achievements.

The celebration began on November 1, 2021, and concluded yesterday evening.

Cultural performances (Folk Dance and Music) relating to various states of North-East India such as Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim were performed at the National Museum from the first to the third day of the celebration (1 to 3 November 2021).

Due to festivals, online activities were carried out as part of the National Museum's celebration on November 4, and 5

Cultural performances from North-East India were resumed on November 6, and continued until the valedictory function yesterday evening.

On the final day of the weeklong celebration, the morning session was dedicated to Agragami dance and the cine team's Folk fusion dance of different communities in Assam. 

In this performance, there was fusion of Bihu dance from various communities of Assam such as Bodo, Rava, Deori,Hajang, Lalong, Missing tribes, and others, conveying and others, conveying the message of unity in diversity.

 

Panthoibi Jagoi Marup performed Manipur Kamba Thiobi dance in the evening valedictory session, followed by Lion dance of Sikkim by artists from Agragami dance and cine team.

Then, artists from Agragami dance and cine team perform a folk fusion dance of different Assamese communities.

Panthoibi Jagoi Marup's Basanta Raas of Manipur was the program's final cultural performance.

Basanta Raasa is a type of Manipuri dance associated with Lord Krishna, Radha, and the Gopis.

 

In the valedictory function, Shri Subrata Nath, National Museum requested to share and like the social media posts of National Museum related to the weeklong celebration so that the message can reach to maximum people.

Later,Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, Director General, National Museum, and Shri Subrata Nath, Additional Director General, National Museum presented mementos to the artists.

Sharma in his address complimented and thanked  to the performing artists showcasing the Cultures of North-East in such short notice.
