Assam: Dibrugarh University Assistant professor arrested for uploading obscene videos

Dibrugarh police, Assam arrested an Assistant Professor of Mathematics of Dibrugarh University for allegedly uploading obscene videos on some websites. He was arrested in connection with an FIR filed by the Registrar of the University.

The accused Assistant Professor, Dhrubajit Choudhury confessed before police during interrogation that he had made the obscene video which was uploaded in some websites.

He was arrested under sections 294A, 500 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was picked up on July 2nd, 2020.

“He has confessed that the video was made by him 3 years back in a hotel at Guwahati. We have seized the mobile phone, laptop and the camera used by the accused to shoot the video,” said Sreejith T., Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, Dr Harish Chandra Mahanta, Registrar, Dibrugarh University, said, “We sought an explanation from the accused Professor regarding the incident. Unsatisfied with his reply, we lodged the FIR yesterday. We have also instituted an internal enquiry. Based on the University guidelines, decision on his suspension or other departmental action will be taken within 48 hours."
