Nagaland: Assam Rifles seizes areca nut worth Rs 45.3 lakh

The Assam Rifles seized 135 bags of areca nut valued at Rs 45.3 lakh from two trucks during a spot check of vehicles at Zubza and Lalmati in Kohima district along National Highway 29 on June 18^th, 2020.

Assam Rifles public relations officer Lt Col L. Vincent Patton, in a release, on Friday said the contraband was being transported from Manipur to Dimapur in the two trucks. Three persons were apprehended in this connection. They were handed over to custom prevention division, Dimapur, along with the seized ganja.

Acting on a specific input, BSF seized 35 kgs of marijuana and 140 bottles of Phensedyl in the bordering areas of Rajarbari, Baskotal and Khetabar Kunti-II, District Coochbehar in West Bengal.

The troops of Border Out Post Tilak of  47 Bn BSF seized 15 kgs of marijuana wrapped with plastic in an operation conducted at Rajarbari under  Sitalkuchi Police state in Coochbehar district in West Bengal while in another operation conducted at Baskotal under Sahebganj Police Station in the district, the troops seized 20 kgs of marijuana wrapped with plastic and 20 bottles of Eskuf Syrup on 23 May 2020.

Meanwhile, in the third operation, the troops of Border Out Post Choudharyhat, 192 Bn BSF, under Guwahati Frontier, carried out a special operation in general area of village Khetaber Kutti Part-II under Sahebganj Police Station in Coochbehar district in the state seized 100 bottles of Phensedyl on intervening night of May 22.

Seized Ganja and Phensedyl were being handed over to Sahebganj police for further legal actions.

BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavours to contain such trans-border crimes.
