Times have changed, regular routes have suffered but Tripura Pradesh Congress widely infamous for its perennial differences remained the same. The party’s Tripura unit is once again struggling with the same problem it faced under the leadership of previous party presidents—Birajit Sinha and Pradyot Kishore Debbarman.

According to the Congress insiders, the party-state leadership had been divided into two prominent factions—one against the party president and another one with the party. And, to these unforeseen circumstances and organizational mismanagements, some other forces were trying to control the party's top brass.

“With Pijush Biswas coming in the lead, the party for a time being settled down but within a few months the problems emerged once again. Pradyot Kishore’s expected resignation prompted many of the leaders to think to be in the helm of the power once again. But, Congress' decision to entrust Pijush Biswas with the responsibility of the party hit the interests of them”, said the source in the condition of anonymity.

However, he said, Biswas from the beginning to left no stone unturned to restructure the organization from the grass-root that irked the leaders more.

“All the state leaders have their chosen figures set in the root level. But, as there are some reshuffles under the direct control of the Congress chief some party leaders fear that they will, in the long run, lose all their resources squeezed in the local level”, the source explained.

In the meantime, what came as an unpleasant surprise for the party was the behavior of the party observer.

“The party observer Luizinho Falerio seemed reluctant to pay any heed to the party’s state leadership. On the other hand, there are instances when he has been found taking decisions apparently in favor of some non-party actors. The non-party actors, though no longer associated with the party anymore, are wielding influence in the party leadership through Falerio which is seriously harming party’s structure in the state as a whole”, the source told this reporter.

It is also learnt from the party sources that some old guards were now almost ready to move Delhi with a bunch of pleas against the state Congress president and that too under passive instructions of the non-party actors.
