NIA files charge sheet against 11 JMB terrorists

Guwahati, February 19, 2020:

The National Investigation Agency has filed a charge-sheet against eleven alleged JMB terrorists on Tuesday.

The persons named in the charge-sheet are Najir Sheikh. Arif Hussain, Asif Ikbal, Jahidul Islam, Kador Kazi, Habibur Rahaman Sk, Md Dilwar Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Adil Sheikh, Abdul Karim, and Mosaraf Hossain.

A press statement said, "All the accused have been booked under sections 120B r/w 395, 452, 468, 471 of IPC and Sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 19, 20, 21, 23 of the UA (P) Act, 1967, Section 25(1A) of Arms Act and Section 14A of the Foreigners Act 1946 in Case No. RC-19/ 2019/NIA/DLI (JMB Bengaluru Module Case) in the NIA Special Court Bengaluru, Karnataka."

The Case was initially registered as Crime No 144/2019 dated 34, 121, 121A r/w 120B of IPC and Sections 18 of UA (P) Act, 1967 at Soladevanahalli Police Station, Bengaluru. The case was later re-registered as instant case u/s 34, 121, 121A r/w 120B of IPC and Sections 18, 38 and 40 of UA (P) Act, 1967, relating to seizure of incriminating material like electrical & electronic items, tools, chemical apparatus, containers, etc., generally used for making of bombs and IEDs. The materials were seized from a house in Chikkabanavara, Bengaluru rented and used by alleged JMB Members.

Further, some 9mm live ammunition, digital cameras, and other incriminating handwritten documents were also recovered.

Investigation revealed that the being members of JMB, a proscribed terrorist organization were involved in a criminal conspiracy to commit terrorist acts or preparation thereof, raising funds by committing dacoities for their terrorist activities, organizing terrorist camps, recruiting persons for committing terrorist activities, harboring group members, procurement of explosive and ammunition for anti-national activities.

A released by the NIA further added that investigation against absconding some absconding suspects is still on. The investigation against the absconding members is being carried under section 173 of the CrPC.
