AIZAWL: A month after churches in Manipur were reopened for daytime with only 50% seating capacity twice a week, the state government has decided to allow church service at night time as well — twice a week.
The government yesterday decided to allow night services twice a week — apart from holding worship service at noon time on Saturdays or Sundays.
According to the statement, the meeting, which was presided by the health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana, also agreed to allow congregational singing during church worship services.
However, the state executive committee on state disaster management has been directed to prepare Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and issue an order in this regard.
Churches and other religious institutions reopened in February after being closed for nearly 11 months due to the spread of Covid-19 since March last year.
