PUNE: In view of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the region along with the other parts of Maharashtra, a night curfew has been imposed once again in Pune from 11 pm to 6 am.

 

Besides the night curfew, schools and colleges will also remain closed till March 31.

 

However, hotels, bars malls, and theaters will be shut from 10 pm to 6 am, while gardens will be closed in the evening.

 

The move came amid the latest spike in COVID-19 cases in the region.

 

While night curfew has been imposed in Pune, in Akola, the administration has announced complete lockdown from today 8 pm to 8 am on Monday.

On the other hand, in Nagpur, lockdown will be imposed from March 15 to 21.

 

As of Thursday, Maharashtra recorded the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases.

 

With over, 14,000 cases the state’s active case tally stands at one lakh.

 

At a press conference, NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr V K Paul terming the coronavirus situation "worrisome" especially in Maharashtra advised people to be "careful and watchful" and not lower guard as the pandemic is not yet over.

 

According to report, Nagpur, Thane, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ernakulam, Jalgaon, Amravati Nashik, and Aurangabad districts have the highest number of active COVID-19 cases.
