GUWAHATI: NSCN-K leader Niki Sumi is reportedly on board with the Political Affairs Mission of the Naga People's Front's initiative of 'one inclusive solution' to resolve the protracted peace process. The breakaway faction led by Sumi has "agreed in principle" to sit across the table with the two other negotiating groups -- NSCN (IM) and NNPGs, reports said.

The PAM of the NPF on Monday met the president of the NSCN-K breakaway faction, General (Rtd) Niki Sumi near Dimapur in Nagaland.

The meeting was led by NPF senior legislator Imkong L. Imchen in the absence of Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang, who could not attend the meeting due to health issues.

Terming the meeting as "constructive and forthcoming", Imchen said that Sumi is on board with the PAM's main objective to find an "inclusive solution" for all the Naga people.

Sumi, during a recent interview, had said that he wants a common solution that is acceptable to all the Nagas. He also has not ruled out that the possibility of joining the peace talks from the Naga side as the third party (NSCN-IM and NNGPs being the other two).

Meanwhile, Naga leaders -- including NPF supremo Zeliang -- have urged Sumi to join the peace process.

Issuing a release on December 31, Sumi said, “I, as a Naga cannot unilaterally go against the wishes and aspirations of our people and consequent to our decision to give peace a chance, I might have hurt or let-down the sentiments of a few which was never my intention. Therefore, I do request all to introspect on the wishes and aspirations of the Naga people to give peace a chance.”
