Nitin Gadkari Tags Sena-Congress-NCP Alliance as "Opportunism"

New Delhi, November 22, 2019:

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has termed the alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress in Maharashtra as “opportunistic”.

Gadkari said that the base of the alliance was opportunism and the motive of the three political parties is to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power in Maharashtra. Calling the alliance a temporary one, he added that Sena-Congress-NCP would not last more than eight months.

While addressing a rally in Ranchi, Gadkari called the alliance of “ideologically different” parties, an “unfortunate” union. He also denied the 50-50 deal of Uddhav Thackeray regarding rotational Chief Ministership. He termed it as untrue.

Earlier, it was reported that the Shiv Sena was willing to revive alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if the latter responds to the 50-50 deal.

The Shiv Sena had broken up with the BJP following its demand for rotational chief ministership and a better share of ministries. However, the latter had denied the reports of such deal with Shiv Sena.
