No Handshakes, No Hugs, Only Salaam-Namaste: Salman Khan Spreads Awareness about Coronavirus

After the detection of at least 29 cases of coronavirus (or COVID-19), celebrities from B-town have taken to social media to raise awareness about the epidemic. Salman Khan's post, in which he cautioned people to refrain from hugs or shakes has rocked social media and gone wildly viral.

Sharing a picture on Instagram, the original hunk of Bollywood,Salman Khan has suggested avoiding handshake or hugging and advised to follow Indian ways of greeting like salaam and namaste.

Alongside a picture of himself where he can be seen performing the customary namaskar, he added the caption, "Namashkaar ... hamari sabhyata mein namaste aur salaam hai! Jab coronavirus Khatam ho jaye tab Haath milao aur gale lago...." (Namashkar, as per our traditions, namaste and salaam/salute is there. After coronavirus is over, shake hands and hug each other).

Veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha also took to social media to spread awareness appealing to all to stop rumour mongering.

Acclaimed Director Ram Gopal Verma also went on to tweet, 'If there are much lesser number of cases in India, it either means we are just plain lucky or that Coronavirus doesn’t like Indians much'. Other celebs like, Rohit Shetty, Mahesh Babu, Bipasha Basu and Vivek Agnihotri among others also shared messages via social media

Coronavirus is taking a toll on everyone, with 29 cases confirmed in India till date. And now, actors and filmmakers across the Indian film industry have united to spread awareness about the disease and stop panic on social media.
