Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the state government still stands by it’s decision not to teach religious studies in government expenditure.

Sarma stated that government would issue two separate notifications for the madrasas and Sanskrit tols in November.

Sarma further said that the government’s stand is the same as they had said in the assembly. There should be no religious education on government’s cost. If someone does it privately, they have that right. But it should not be done with the government’s expenditure. The government will take decision in November and issue two separate notifications for Madrasas and Sanskrit tols..
