Guwahati 30th April, 2019:

Despite prior information the Forest minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya has delayed taking action to stop a wild elephant from causing panic on the streets of Guwahati.

The elephant was seen roaming in the streets of Guwahati creating havoc and terror in the streets.

Traffic was halted on the streets of Guwahati as the elephant rampaged in the streets of Guwahati from Hengrabari area and headed towards Ganeshguri, Christanbasti and ABC.

It may also be mentioned that the forest officials are trying to rescue the elephant and bring the situation under control.

Speaking to InsideNE, forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya said, "I am taking stock of the situation and have directed other forest officials to take necessary action so that the elephant is kept safe. I have spoken to the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) to make sure that there is a smooth movement of traffic and everything is kept under control."

“Moreover, it is very difficult to tranquillise the elephant so as to control the elephant without hurting it", added Suklabaidya.
