GUWAHATI: Another earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Assam in the early hours of Saturday.

According to National Center for Seismology, the quake was recorded at 1.07 am, with its epicenter near Tezpur, the headquarter of Sonitpur district, at a depth of 30 km.

Three more earthquakes hit the northeastern region of India including Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya on Friday, according to NCS.

The epicenter of the earthquake in Assam was located in the Sonitpur district. It occurred at 2:04 am at the depth of 22 km and measured 4.1 on the Richter scale.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 18-06-2021, 02:04:40 IST, Lat: 26.73 & Long: 92.44, Depth: 22 Km ,Location: 36km WNW of Tezpur, Assam,” the NCS tweeted.

As per NCS, an earthquake occurred at 1.06 am in Manipur’s Moirang at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The epicenter of the quake was located 39 kilometers East-Southeast of Moirang.

Another low-intensity earthquake of 2.6 magnitude jolted West Khasi Hills in Meghalaya on Friday. As per NCS, the earthquake hit at 4:20 am at the depth of 10 km.

The midnight tremors have created a sense of panic among the people. Assam experienced one massive tremor of 6.4 magnitude on April 28 damaging several buildings across the state leaving people with sleepless nights for several days.
