Northeast's 1st COVID-19 Patient from Manipur Makes "Complete Recovery"

Imphal, April 6, 2020:

In a significant breakthrough, the medical personnel have finally been able to cure Vimi, the 23-year-old from West Imphal who became the first COVID-19 positive case in the Northeast Indian region. Vimi, whose recovery has been confirmed by the Manipur administration, was being treated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS). Vimi's recovery from the deadly contagion within two weeks is being seen as a flicker of hope amid a rising number of COVID-19 positive cases across the country.

This was confirmed earlier today by the Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh, who took to Facebook to make the announcement. "The much awaited news of our daughter Vimi’s final nCOVID-19 test report has come out NEGATIVE. Now she is completely free from nCOVID-19 virus. It’s a huge achievement for the whole medical department in general and the doctors & staffs of JNIMS in particular. Let’s continue to fight and endeavour more to ensure that our state is completely free from nCOVID-19 spread", he wrote in a post.

Yesterday also she had tested "negative" in an initial testing, roughly two weeks after she had first tested positive for the virus. She had gone to the UK's capital city London recently, and was tested positive on March 24. However, all of her contacts tested positive for the virus.
