DHURBRI: Irecent development, Rupshi Airport has introduced aviation fuelling facilities to their camps, allowing them to fuel planes.

It's worth mentioning that the historic airport, which reopened after four decades on May 8 this year, only has one flight each day between Kolkata and Guwahati. And, in order to refuel the plane, the flight had to fly to Guwahati or Kolkata, causing delays in time and business for the airlines.

The addition of an aviation fueling facility is intended to boost the frequency of flights departing FROM the airport, which was built during World War II.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd- Aviation Fueling Wing has taken up the facility at Rupshi Airport.

Officials from HPCL, Md. Abbas Abdi and Vipul Gupta, noted that this is fantastic news for Rupshi Airport since aeroplanes would now be able to tanker fuel at Rupshi Airport.

They stated that previously, flights arriving in Rupshi had to refuel in Guwahati or Kolkata, but that starting immediately, the Rupshi airport will also be able to supply Aviation Turbine Fuel (fuel injected in aircrafts).

According to officials, HPCL's recently built Aviation Fuelling Service facility now has tankage of roughly 20-kilo litres, with plans to extend it to 50-60 kilolitres.

With a tankage extension plan coming up for 50-60 kilolitre fueling, the existing facility of 20 kI can accommodate all flights landing at Rupshi airport, which is now approximately 10 per week.
